So I found this interesting pieces of software. It's comparable to Poser, but it's open source and free, although both programs are in it's very early stages.

MakeHuman(TM) is an open source (so it's completely free), innovative and professional software for the modelling of 3-Dimensional humanoid characters. Features that make this software unique include a new, highly intuitive GUI and a high quality mesh, optimized to work in subdivision surface mode (for example, Zbrush). Using MakeHuman, a photorealistic character can be modeled in less than 2 minutes; MakeHuman is released under an Open Source Licence (GPL3.0) , and is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

I played with this two days ago and was able to successfully import a creation into blender. 8-)

The other program is QAvimator

QAvimator is a Qt port of Vince Invincible's avimator, a bvh animation editor, created for use in the 3D metaverse Second Life. The project is still in early alpha stage and may or may not work on your system.

Cool looking tools, downloading now!

While we're sharing, you can also have a look at Sculptris.

I haven't tried it out yet, but it looks like a modelling/sculpting program similar to ZBrush, only free. Also in early stages of development.
